NOTE when the spline attaches to line 3, it will become part of the spline
draw a spline (start at the end of line 3 and finish at the end of line 1)
create another new sketch on the frontal plane and give it the name "axis"
attach line 5 to the end of line 1 (hold the Shift key)
from the Features menu select Revolve Profile
make the following settings
- click OK to complete the operation
Goblet (mouseover)
Exercise 5
In this exercise you will sweep a profile along a sketch path.
on the frontal plane create a new sketch and name it "profile"
on the profile sketch draw a profile (1) similar to that shown to the right
on the base plane create a new sketch and name it "path"
view onto the workplane (Shift + w)
hold down the Shift key and draw line (2) to pass through the profile at right angles
attach lines and curves to the end of line 2 to form a path similar to that shown to the right
from the Features menu select Sweep Profile then Along Sketch Path
make the settings shown below
click OK to complete the operation
Profile swept along a path (mouseover)
Exercise 6
In this exercise you will sweep a profile along a helix to create a spring
On the base workplane create a new sketch an name it "axis"
draw a line 1 for the axis of rotation (hold Shift key)
on the base workplane create a new sketch and name it "profile"
draw a circle 2 for the profile of the spring
from the Features menu select Sweep Profile then Along Helix
make the settings shown below
click OK to complete the operation
Sweep profile along a helix (mouseover)
Exercise 7
In this exercise you will create a square thread using sweep profile along a helix path
On the frontal workplane create a new sketch and name it "cylinder"
commence at the point (0,0) create a circle
constrain the circle to a diameter of 25
extrude the circle below the workplane a distance of 100
On the base workplane change the name of the initial sketch to "axis"
view onto the axis sketch (Shift + w)
commence at point (0,-8) and draw a line for the axis of rotation (hold Shift key)
on the base workplane create a new sketch and name it "profile"
draw a square for the profile of the spring
constrain the square to 4
constrain the distance from the axis to the square to be 9
from the Features menu select Sweep Profile then Along Helix
make the settings shown below
click OK to create the thread
Cylinder to thread (mouseover)
Create cylinder
Create axis
Create thread profile
Create helical thread
Exercise 8
In this exercise you will loft through two profiles
on the initial sketch draw square 1 as shown to the right
from the Workplanes menu select New Workplane and create a new workplane
on workplane 1 create a new sketch and call it "top"
view onto the workplane (Shift + w)
click the Autoscale button
to view the square
commence at the corner of the square and draw circle 2 as shown below
