ProDesktop 3D Modelling

Exercise Set 2

In these exercises you will:

Exercise 1

  • create a rectangle on the initial sketch

  • extrude the rectangle as shown in the mouseover

Exercise 2

Note - the objects must NOT overlap

Exercise 3

  • on the initial sketch create a rectangle

  • use the curve tool to round three corners

  • extrude the profile as shown in the mouseover

Exercise 4

  • create a rectangle

  • attach to the corner of the rectangle and draw a circle

  • attempt to extrude the profile - note the error message - Click Undo

  • trim the circle and rectangle as shown

  • extrude the profile as shown in the mouseover

Why did the extrude fail the first time?

Exercise 5

  • on the initial sketch create a rectangle

  • draw a circle inside the rectangle

  • extrude the profile as shown in the mouseover

Exercise 6

  • on the initial sketch draw a rectangle

  • draw a circle from the corner

  • draw a curve in the opposite corner

  • draw a line joining the mid points of the two lines as shown

  • trim the shape to make a valid profile

  • extrude the profile as shown in the mouseover

Exercise 7

  • on the initial sketch draw a spline
  • NOTE - do not make the curve tight or it will cause problems in the extrusion

  • extrude the profile as a thin of 5mm thickness as shown in the mouseover

Exercise 8

  • create a new sketch on the Frontal workplane

  • draw the first circle

  • move the pointer over the circumference of the circle to activate the snap point

  • click and drag a concentric circle

  • extrude the profile as shown in the mouseover

Exercise 9

  • create a new sketch on the Lateral workplane - name the sketch triangle

  • use the line tool to draw a triangle

  • use the curve tool to convert one line to a curve

  • extrude the profile as shown in the mouseover

  • use the arrow keys to rotate the model

Exercise 10

  • on the initial sketch draw the shape shown opposite having

    • two sets of concentric circles

    • two tangent lines

  • trim the circles as shown in the top picture mouseover

  • convert the two lines into curves

  • extrude the profile as shown in the mouseover

  • use the Select Parts tool from the design toolbar to select the model

  • right mouse click on the selected model

  • select Set Component Colour then change the colour of the model

Exercise 11

  • using the initial sketch, draw a square

  • extrude the square to produce a square pyramid as shown in the mouseover

Exercise 12

  • create a new sketch called profile on the Lateral workplane

  • on the profile sketch draw a circle

  • extrude the circle to produce a taper as shown in the mouseover
