Deforming a face

 

Deforming a face is a quick way of producing a feature on a flat rectangular or circular face.

The surface may be deformed outward or inwards.

The deformed surface will be highest (or lowest) in the centre.

 

To deform a face

  • create a model

  • select a flat, rectangular or circular surface using the surface select tool

  • from the Features menu select Modify Solids then Deform Face

  • in the Deform Face dialog box

    • set the height of the deformation

    • if the direction is incorrect click the button

    • if necessary, choose to by clicking in the box

    • change the default name for the surface (if required)

    • when the deformation is correct click OK

 

NOTE - to quickly indicate the direction and height of the deformation, click and drag the yellow handle
