Find

The find feature can be found in many computer programs. It enables the user to locate text or symbols in a document.


To Find text:

  • from the Edit menu select Find to open the Find dialog box OR
  • press Ctrl + F
  • entering the text (or symbols) to be found
  • click the button
  • Microsoft Word will find, and stop at each occurrence until it reaches the end of the document.

Replace

The replace feature enables the user to search for all occurrences of specified text and replace it with another set of text (or symbols).

To Replace text:

  • from the Edit menu select Replace to open the Replace dialog box OR
  • Press Ctrl + H
  • enter the text to be found
  • enter the text which is to replace

 

  • Click the button to search for the next occurrence of the specified text. The program pauses at the next occurrence
  • Click the button to replace the word which has just been found
  • Click the button to search for all occurrences of the specified text and replace it without consulting the user for confirmation.
  • After all replacements have been made Microsoft Word reports the number of replacements.

Caution - using Replace All can produce unexpected results
