How Do I Get To Dubbo?

No matter what type of travel suits you best, Dubbo City is easily accessed by road, rail or air. We are ideally located, with equal proximity to Australia’s major population bases in both New South Wales and interstate.

All roads lead to Dubbo. Located at the meeting point of the Newell, Mitchell and Golden Highways, Dubbo City is an easy five hours drive from Sydney, four hours from Newcastle and a ten hour drive from Melbourne and Brisbane. A number of national and locally operated coach lines combine to offer a comprehensive transit coach service from all ports to Dubbo’s National Coach Interchange.

For train lovers, Australia’s modern XPT operates a comfortable daily service between Sydney and Dubbo, with a network of Countrylink coaches servicing the outlying Orana region.
If the convenience of flying appeals, Dubbo City is less than an hour’s commute from Sydney by commercial aircraft. Regular daily flights are offered by Regional Express Airlines and QantasLink, to and from Dubbo, seven days a week. A fleet of light aircraft also offers ancillary commuter services to western and north-western centres, and are available for charter.

Dubbo City is fast becoming the transport hub of central western NSW. Its transport and transport service industry is undoubtedly one of the most important features for the City’s continuing growth, with 5% of the city’s workforce already employed in the transport and storage industry.

The road link between Dubbo and Newcastle is now gazetted as the Golden Highway by the NSW Roads and Traffic Authority. A substantial upgrade of this highway is providing an opportunity to further reduce road transport freight rates to the seaboard.

Dubbo is the eastern termination centre for road trains that, along with the B-Doubles, provide efficient transport throughout the region and interstate. The Inland Container Terminal and other road and rail transport developments make Dubbo an ideal place to establish a freight forwarding industry.

Dubbo City’s significant road links provide ease of access to deep sea ports in Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane, giving local producers and manufacturers reliable exporting ability.
